And the winner is…. August 9th, 2011.

The wait is over and the competition to re-name our online shop solution is now closed.  Following weeks of suggestions pouring in, a winner can now be announced.

We ran the competition because we wanted people to come up with a new name for our ecommerce system – a fantastic way for any business to sell their products online.  The shop we have developed is an excellent product – it’s flexible, affordable, and can be tailored to meet your requirements. But perhaps most importantly, it’s easy-to-use and gets the job done!

Before the competition, our product was called GP Commerce but it wasn’t a name that we really liked. We needed to do something about it and we thought that an iPod Touch as a prize for the best answer would get your creative juices flowing!

We had lots of great ideas come in but there could only be one winner.

When we reviewed the entries, one stood out and it was so simple we couldn’t believe we didn’t think of it ourselves!

Peach E-commerce.

This name actually came up twice but our rules stipulated that in the event of more than one person suggesting the winning name, we would take the first entry as our overall winner.

And the winner is…… Paul Baker from Basingstoke College of Technology. Congratulations.

Fred’s Work Experience with The Peaches. July 11th, 2011.

Over the past 2 weeks I have really enjoyed myself here at Giant Peach.

I may have not arrived on my first day because of an exam but it has been really fun. I got a few chances to lose at pool but I have had some lucky wins due to my opponents’ mistakes.

I have managed to contribute to buying an iPad for Giant Peach by selling some Macs on eBay. I have also done some office based work – research etc. (Abby’s idea…)

I have also managed to get the chance to develop the Peach eCommerce site (front-end) and I have had fun doing it.

The people here are nice and friendly and I’m sad that I had to leave but I would come back if I could and I would.

highly recommend this place for IT work experience (even if the barn is in the middle of nowhere…)

Freddie saying goodbye.

Kestrels in Wylye. June 30th, 2011.

Web design salisbury kestrel

We are lucky enough to have some beautiful birds of prey flying close to the office. We have already spotted three kestrels. There are around 36,800 breeding pairs in the UK and they are on the RSPB Amber List because their numbers declined in the 1970’s.

The field around the barn provide plenty of small mammals for them to feed on and so we hope to see them throughout the year.

We are a bit worried about one of them which allowed us to get really close so we will be keeping an eye out for it.

New Home. June 30th, 2011.

We are now in our new home and settling in nicely. The barn is beautiful and the views are fantastic.

Sleek new desks and stylish chairs make our office look great and we have much more space than before. The sofa area overlooking the field provides a space for informal meetings and we have another room opposite the barn for anything more formal.

Of course we brought our pool table with us for a quick break from all the hard work.

Getting to us is really easy – we are about 20 minutes from Salisbury, just off the A303 in Wylye. Come in and see us soon….

Giant Peach is moving…. June 3rd, 2011.

As we continue to grow, desk space at our current office is becoming a bit of a premium. So after 5 or so fantastic years in Downton, we’re moving. We’ve loved living with both Revive and EdUKaid; working, socialising and beating them at pool (Colin is the easiest to beat), but unless developers want to sit on the floor, we need more space.

After looking around for a suitable office for the Peaches, we found this; a beautiful barn situated in the Wylye Valley just outside Salisbury. The location is fantastic; peaceful, inspiring and with the A303 and A36 a stone’s through away, accessible. read more…
